His comment on Rush Limbaugh’s calling a law student a prostitute for supporting contraceptive coverage under health insurance?

I’ll just say this which is it’s not the language I would have used. I’m focusing on the issues I think are significant in the country today and that’s why I’m here talking about jobs and Ohio.

“Not the language I would have used.” Now that’s tough. And that’s what he came up with after ducking the question all day.

How can you expect Romney to stand up to Putin or Ahmadi-Nejad if he can’t even stand up to an obese bully with a microphone?

Update Rick Santorum, on the other hand, has millimeter-sized stones rather than micron-sized stones:

He’s being absurd, but that’s you know, an entertainer can be absurd. He’s in a very different business than I am.

Try calling one of Rick Santorum’s daughters a slut and a prostitute, and I bet you’d discover he knows stronger language than “absurd.”

Barack Obama, on the other hand, knows how to behave. And he also knows how to seize a political opportunity when his opponents hand him one. But that’s the point, isn’t it? This year, we will have an election between a party whose members and leaders think that contraception is evil and a party whose members and leaders think it’s an essential part of health care. “No difference?” Now that’s absurd.

  1. Newt is probably the one whose base has the highest proportion of dittoheads, while Santorum’s base more likely listens to Christian Radio. Wait for Newt’s move on Limbaugh, assuming that he is forced to make one.

  3. President Clinton was fortunate in developing enemies whose public personas were unappealing: Newt Gingrich and Kenneth Starr foremost among them, although Rush Bimbo was almost as odious then as he is now.

    It appears that President Obama is becoming similarly fortunate. His most prominent recent critics are the pointy hat folks who couldn’t keep their priests out of their parishioners’ children but who meddle with adults’ sexual expression, and Limbaugh, whose weirdness and pill-popping have become widely known since the Clinton presidency days.

    I don’t think that Mitt Romney actually said what you seem to think he said. The meaning I ascribe to his statement is that he agrees with the substance of what Rush Limbaugh said and merely wished that the sentiment had been expressed more artfully. He therefore deserves zero credit for standing up to Rush Limbaugh who he evidently thinks was right on the merits.

    1. Agree; Romney would have said “tart” or “trollop.” Much more fitting with the high class guy he is.

        Yeah, it all depends on how you interpret “substance.” I suppose some people believe that not wanting employers to be forced by law to subsidize other people’s sexual activity is meddling in adult’s sexual expression and is the basic reason of why people are especially unhappy with Limbaugh compared to others who are opposed to these new regulations (which again, do allow a conscience exemption and a time-frame to secure compliance). However, substance could in fact mean the belief that wanting not to deal with certain consequences of copulation is equivalent to prostitution.

        1. That might be his story now but the substance of what he actually said on the air was that Ms Fluke was a slut and a whore. And that’s what Mitt Romney was agreeing with, not this other BS that being offered to explain what Rush Limbaugh really meant.

  6. Give Romney a break. He’s suffering from “severe” conservatism. Is it merely acute or genuinely chronic? that’s what the dittoheads want to know.
